Green Building!
Frederick Collins Construction & Repairs is always looking for ways to reduce the cost and the impact of the debris created by remodeling projects.
For example: The average residential roof replacement generates about 12 yards (9,000 LBS.) of waste. Because we recycle the shingle portion of this waste, we reduce by 90% the garbage sent to landfills from each residential job.
While sorting trash is not the most pleasant part of the job, the reduced cost almost covers the additional labor. In addition, we know that this is in the long term best interest of our customers, our company, our community and our planet.
As energy costs continue to rise we offer more products to help our clients reduce the cost of electricity and natural gas. We always add polystyrene foam insulation behind our siding projects. We use only new Energy Star rated windows and doors, and install them using a airtight foam sealing process. We increase home comfort, and reduce heat loss in crawl spaces with closed cell foam insulation.
For porches and decks we encourage our customers to select composite decking material made from recycled products like Evolve Plastic Lumber. Evolve is made from recycled milk jugs injection-molded into an attractive imitation wood planking. It is virtually indestructible, lifetime guaranteed, and never needs painting or staining. (Another way to reduce energy use – YOURS!)
Frederick Collins Construction & Repairs uses Weather King Windows and Doors to give our customers long-term reliable service. These Energy Star rated products keep your home warm in the winter and save energy. With the wide range of colors and styles available, these windows and doors can suit any type of décor.
